I purchased some darling Strawberrry Shortcake blocks here a short time ago. They are more rectangle than square. 5 by 5.75. When I was in Vermont I found the perfect color match for the pink and green, and a simple white on white. Now I am stumped as to how to put all of this together. I think on point would be cute, but wondering what would be good for the sides. Pinwheel? Rail fence? Flying geese? Checkerboard? I know all of you will have some great suggestions!

I've never done anything on point that wasn't square, but I love the fabrics that you have with the panel!

Pretty blocks. I'll have to leave this to someone with more experience than I have. Will look forward to seeing it finished.

I'm voting pink and green pinwheels for the sides. Maybe with little strawberries appliqued in the center of a few of them.

What about an attic window, don't know if that would work, but that's my 2 cents worth for today. :lol:

I would trace the scallop on the blocks and blow it up... Your blocks are about 5 inches... make each scallop or set of scallops about that size. You can sew it down with a pink or red buttonhole stitch.

Warm wishes would be sweet. But might be difficult without being square.

Okay, my time to ask as dumb question/ You mention doing it on point, and I know what that is, but, why would you want to take a print with a definite up design, and put it on point? I've read where others are doing this, and it just doesn't make sense to me Or do you just leave the design up and cut the square on point? I told you it was a dumb question!LOL As cute as this print is, I'd probably just add sashing and a piecced block.

How about a single Irish chain Pattern. the SS blocks will be the alternate blocks... you can eaily square them up within that space with differnt sized borders around them. or better yet make the irish chain blocks into oblong blocks too..... this is definately a great idea if I do say so myself. LOL
Make sure you mark the tall end of every irish chain block so you don't sew them together wrong... the oblong blocks must face the same direction on every block or they won't meet in the corners. it will be beautiful!!!!

I don't know how you could put those blocks on point because the design is straight up and down. I would just put pink and green (small) borders around each block and put it together then add a border once they are all sewn together
