Stretchy Fabric in Sashing

I'm making a T-Shirt quilt for a friend and the fabric I chose for sashing is 100% cotton but so stretchy I think I will have to "unsew" and start over. I have all the sashings between the squares across sewn and didn't notice until I started putting the rows together. I just don't know if this will make a big difference when it goes to the quilter. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone have any suggestions? I really really want to get this project finished. I've had possession of the shirts for the past year and I'm ready to be done with them.

you might try cutting the sashings LOF. fabric is stretchier WOF

It is a woven fabric, correct? The only time I have run into a problem with cotton woven fabric stretching was when i used a sateen. the way it was woven made it really stretch. I just starched very heavily.

If it's a knit, you may need to use an iron on interfacing.

The fabric is 100% cotton not knit. I'll be checking all my fabrics before purchase from now on.
