Patty Patches 02-24-2011 02:53 PM

I just bought 1930s fabric to make a quilt and now I;m stumped for a pattern.I got a total of 24 half yard cuts so I have plenty to work with. Some ideas please. Thanks

i love to make the bow tie pattern with the 30's prints. it is a 9 patch and not the ''new'' style of the bow tie block.

how about a fan or Dresden Plate?

I agree. I love the 30s fabrics :D Think 30s....Dresden Plates, GFGs, Grandmother's fans, any of those old ones. I am collecting 30s to do a GFG :D Have fun!

I did a double wedding ring, using the foundation piecing method, and it turned out lovely.

A DWR would look great!

Even a simple nine-patch looks good in 30s prints. I'd alternate them with a plain white block if I did that. Somewhere I remember seeing an Irish Chain done with 30s repros, too. That was really nice!

I have done a dresden plate, a grandmother's flower garden, and a pinwheel/five patch that was really cute.

do a sampler quilt with each block being different..But use the older style of patterns..Or do the old fashion butterfly applique..
