I am a newer quilter. My Mom wanted the sunbonnet sue & sam quilt. I didn't think about so much one on one cutting. Mom wants each sq. a different scene. 4 seasons,
beach, mountains, football, sewing, etc. Is there some way of just getting the sunbonnet & sam already cut and ready to sew. I have the easy part( I love) material, like rain, mounains, sun,moon, snowflakes, grass, sand, ocean,etc.
I do not have a machine with dies. I bought a book of
sunbonnett sue & sam and pattens. They are cute.

I think you can buy these already cut out on ebay.

It's not that much work, really.

You probably want to use a fusible such as Steam-a-Seam Light. Fuse it to the fabric, trace the shapes on the back of the fusible, cut out (a good task to do while watching tv), fuse to background, and stitch around.

I think if you split up the job into smaller parts, you will not find it so daunting. You *do* need a sharp pair of scissors, though!

I hadn't though of eBay! Someone on this QB would probably be willing to sell the Go! type cutouts too.

Awhile ago I bought some fusible fabic animals, and was not happy with them. They were not cut straight and the fabric was very thin. This may not be a concern of yours, but thought I would let you know my experience.

I've used SunBonnet Sue a few times and I use a fusible and iron it onto my chosen fabric, it's really simple to do and quite therapeutic to cut them out, it also enables you to use up smaller bits of fabric.

I use "used fabric softener sheets" as backing on my Sues/Sams.
Just machine stitch around outer edges of each pattern piece( I trace these onto the fabric softener sheet) ... place your fabric
with right side facing the sheet, sew on drawn lines, trim 1/4" from drawn lines, clip curves, turn inside out, press, and you are ready to hand or machine applique onto your background block.
You can do lots of pieces while watching tv, and assemble Sue
later.

thanks for the information. I have not decided yet, I do have the fabric, and then again on the 19.97 I think, on ebay there was sue & sam 12pc. Looks tempting. But I no in pay pal whatever it is? I will have to look into to a guess.
