Super Bowl Sunday Mystery Quilt

Hi Ladies!

Sharon and I have been working behind the scenes to find you another mystery quilt and we found one!

I have been talking to Kris at Quiltbug.com and she tells me that she will be hosting a FREE mystery quilt on Super Bowl Sunday. She can't give me any details as of yet because her testers are still finishing the final details, but she will let me know as soon as the info for yardage is posted and I will get it to you :)

In the mean time, please visit her site at www.quiltbug.com and poke around. She has a whole bunch of free stuff, most in PDF format to download to your computer. If you collect patterns from the internet like I do, then you will love this site.

Kris did a mystery quilt on New Years Day and that pattern is still available for download for FREE. Others that she has done in the past are now available for purchase as well.

I will let you know when the 1st installment is available. Hope you will all join Sharon and myself for a fun filled day of quilting and mystery :)

I've never done a mystery quilt but I think I'm going to try this one. I always spend that day watching TV so I don't miss any commercials. What do I need to do ahead of time?

At this point, we are still on hold. The pattern has yet to be posted as the testers still have it, but she tells me soon. When I do, I will post the link so we can get started. Won't be too much longer, I hope :)

In the mean time, you can join us on the McCalls Mystery. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...t-t174799.html

Make sure to read the whole 1st posting so you can see just what we are doing there. That one sounds like a good mystery as well :)

Thanks for joining us, it is sure to be great fun!

The game is on Feb 5th. No, unfortunately PP is not going to do one this year, they were the 1st one that I asked, that is why we went searching for another one and found it at Quiltbug.com. I am eager and waiting for the word that the directions are up and I will post them here as soon as I know :)

[QUOTE= What do I need to do ahead of time?[/QUOTE]

If you are as eager as I am, I would start looking at your stash. I would think of combinations that would go good together, lights, mediums and darks. Neutrals, tone on tones, backgrounds, the normal stuff that you would think of when you were going to start a quilt. If you have to purchase your fabrics, think of what combinations are pleasing to you. Work in EQ (electric quilt) with color combinations, make random blocks to recolor to see what works good together and what doesn't so you have a good idea of what you are looking for when you go to the store, kinda like a grocery/fabric list of sorts. I know when I go to the LQS, I always forget what I am looking for and always bring home more than I needed and may bring home what I went there for in the 1st place LOL :)

For me, that is the hardest part of the quilt, figuring out what combinations look good together and then when I get what I think is good, I change my mind LOL

That's the best that I can give you right now, I don't have specifics on this project yet.

I can tell you this, if she does not give us directions by the 21st, we will be doing something else. I do have another mystery lined up if this one falls through, problem with that one is that it has already been completed and everyone can look ahead and 'peak' at the finished quilt and/or the next clue before it is time. It also takes a little bit more prep time so we would be cutting it close for SBS. (S uper B owl S unday) Still trying to work out the kinks on that one if we need to do it.

Stay tuned and don't forget to subscribe to this thread so you don't miss any messages

*****UPDATE UPDATE*****

I got news from Kris and she says her focus group is testing the sample now. She says it will be a scrap buster. She tells me that you will need about 3 yards for the background fabric and 1 yard for the border, the rest to come from your stash. She also says it will finish at 60x60. Should have more news on Wednesday :)

Still waiting to see the information for the Quiltbug Super Bowl Mystery- nothing new updated yet. In the meantime Fabriclovr and I are trying to come up with "Plan B" just in case :)
