Has anyone made one? If so can you post a pic in the pictures?
I want to make one of these. I have to wait until they are in stores 1st tho, I don't have any. |
Here's one I did last year (if this works!):
http://thumb10.webshots.net/t/63/663...0MqQzZK_th.jpg I actually left the sweatshirt cuffs on the sleeves and just put a fabric cuff around them. Well, that worked but the pic is really small! I'll find the original and post it later. |
That looks nice and I like the way you did the cuffs. Thanks for posting it!

Hi, I made one several years ago. I don't have a photo handy, will find the jacket hopefully and post when I can.
I followed the directions on 'I can't believe its a sweatshirt' pattern. But after cutting off the cuffs and ribbing at the bottom I used about 5 inches of more sweatshirt fabric from identical sweatshirt to make it longer, I didn't care for the short-waisted look. My sweatshirt was black and I used a variety of bright fabrics cut in 2x2 sqs and some rectangles and placed them on a section of the jacket (after opening the seams down the sides and laid flat) used a bit of fabric glue to secure it so that I could stitch it all down and then used a metallic thread to add some glitz and glitter. Turned out really well. with the bright fabrics and black sweatshirt, it looked a bit like stained glass. One suggestion, launder the sweatshirt first. My pattern directions said not to so that the jacket would achieve a certain look after completed. Well it did shrink and made the sleeves shorter than I liked and had to lengthen them. Also the black sweatshirt bled and dulled my bright fabrics. It was a learning experience. Oh, and I added hidden pockets. But I always got lots of compliments on the jacket when I wore it. warm quilt hugs, sue |

I would wash it first not only for the bleeding, but some sweatshirts "twist" if they shrink. I would rather have that happen before I make it than after  But that brings up the matter of the kind of look you want, pre shrinking your cotton fabric would also stop some distortion/puckering too after it is washed.

I took a sweatshirt class a few months ago and this is what I made. It's a quilt as you go and very easy. Just takes awhile to do. If you have the accuquilt, just cut the strips and start sewing! I'm planning to make a second one and actually bought a honeybun to use.

Oh they are so much fun to make! What pretty jackets ladies!
