I am making a DP9 table runner. I am sandwiching it with flannel. Can I machine quilt it since the middle will be flannel? I don't know how else to hold the layers together. TIA

I think machine quilting should work fine. IMHO

of course you can. you might need to baste/pin more or less than if you were using batting. you have to respect the nature of the fabrics you are working with. Be sure and shrink the flannel well because in washing it will shrink differently from the other fabrics. There have been many posts here about using flannel and the overwhelming recommenting is to wash, wash, wash, shrink, shrink the flannel before using it.

you should be fine. I only put flannel in as the batting for a rag quilt before and it was fine.

It will be just fine :D:D:D

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I will be sure to wash, wash, wash, shrink, shrink, shrink! :)

I read on the board here to be sure to pre wash your flannel

Thanks Craftybear. I saved the article for future reference.

I'm sure it will be fine. I can't wait to see it.
