Tablecloths with cutwork designs

On many of my jaunts to yard sales and flea markets, I have come across several tablecloths that have beautiful cut work designs in them and picked them up for a 3 or 4 dollars..I just know I can do something quilty with them, thinking of maybe doing a wholecloth quilt but I dont know what I could do with the cutwork.. anyone have any suggestions???

you can back the cutwork with tulle since the holes are probably too big. or you can line them with a contrasting color to add another element to your quilt.

That's a really good idea. Wouldn't have thought of using the tablecloths or of the ways to use them.

A color behind might look like reverse applique, through the openings.

You will have to stitch around each opening to secure it to the quilt, but it would make a lovely quilt!
