Hi everyone! I'm about to do some serious waiting around and I'd like to find some new projects to do. Inspired by bearisgray's topic of when we get the most work done, I'd like to start using this time to my advantage. If you have any suggestions for the perfect handwork, I'd appreciate it.
I've not yet learned applique but have a two week window or so to get that going. I know that there are online resources but I'm thinking I need someone in person to help me because I'm very visual. My embroidery skills are a bit rusty--- it's only been about 30 years since I did my first and last project but I do still have some supplies. At one point, I thought of doing some redwork but I just haven't gotten around to it. Thanks in advance, RETRO |
I used to take fabric to work and cut squares when I had finished my lunch and still had time left. I have a bitty mat, about 5 or 6 inches square. Maybe you could start your next project.

Right now I am working on my Hexagon quilt. Still have about 6 more blocks to make before I start hand sewing them together. I take that to work on over my lunch hour.....

I get cutting done when waiting, too. You also might bring graph paper for design work. Trimming and squaring up components might also be options. Are you into yo-yos? That's another good take along project.

you can do hand piecing mark all your piecing nite before and pin them and take them to make your blocks when sitting

When I want to take a small project to do,
I make felted wool pattern projects. Right now I am making a candle mat for a future gift. They are so easy & fun to do!! :D Just an idea for you. Cheryl :D :D :D |
I agree English Paper piecing is wonderful for a take along project. I took it with me to Vegas on an airplane with no problems.

Hand applique is a great take along project. I give instructions on three different ways to do hand applique at http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com/hand-applique.html
