I've been sewing my whole life, but I just got into quilting recently and my husband asked me if I could paper piece a Ninja Turtle quilt for him, but I'm not too familiar with paper piecing and was wondering if anyone has done a Ninja Turtle quilt in the past or can give me some advice.

Thanks.

Found a website with pictures that you might be able to use to paper piece or what I did with a Thomas the Train quilt that I did was applique it using a tight zigzag stitch to put it all together. Here's the site for the colorbook pages:

Here's the site to the Thomas the Train quilt that I made (using the same method) if you're interested:

Good luck with your new adventure in quilting.

My son used to have TMNT flannel sheets--'course that was 16 years ago but I believe the turtles made a comeback. there might be some fabric out there somewhere.

Good luck and hope you have fun with your new quilt.

Oh no! They're back???? I thought I saw the last of them. We had everything Turtles. I even have a cup that we scoop the dogs food with. My son had "bow biters"- they clipped over his shoelaces so they didn't come untied. He was just an infant. (he'll be 19 next week)

I could probably find some if I look hard enough. I probably got rid of the sheets and pillow cases. Now- I still have son's Spongebob sheets. ah, memories.

OMG, my son was soooo into the turtles! He even had a toy box with them on it until he was 24!

I just saw one of those sheets at my local Goodwill! Too funny! I looked at it because my 2 and 5 yr. olds like the Ninja Turtles, but it was pretty worn out and faded so I left it there. I bet if you kept your eye open you could find a nicer one, though.

Is there a particular reason he wants a "paper pieced" quilt?

I'd suggest copying those coloring book pages onto fabric, get him some fabric coloring pens/crayons and let him create the blocks, you just sew them together. If he's into TMNT, he may be into coloring too LOL

Or as someone else suggested, applique them.

If he doesn't like those ideas have him draw the turtles using only straight lines, then you could make a paper piecing pattern out of it.

The reason I suggest this is because you could spend hours coming up with a pp pattern, putting it together and him not liking it because it looks weird. The TMNT are very detailed, and would be difficult to pp IMHO
