My husband and I - with another couple - will spend Thursday - Sunday looking at antique and junk shops in Luling, Seguin, Universal City, San Antonio, San Marcos, New Braunfels - most of those anyway.

Are there any "can't miss" quilt shops in that area? I've been to a few in New Braunfels, but .. the prices are so much higher than my little local shop that .. wasn't terribly tempted there. Found some shop names that looked interesting, but didn't find web sites for them.

I stopped at a couple of shops in Fredricksburg, TX some years ago, it was great and my first time in a shop. So many quilts to look at and the lady was using a longarm so I got to watch her for awhile also. Lots to see and do on the main st there. Have fun!

Thanks! My husband and I are taking a tiny trip next week with just the two of us and we're going to a wedding in Sept just outside of San Marcos so I'll be sure Fredricksburg gets on our list.

Check this out. http://www.hillcountryportal.com/hil...yquilting.html

Yes, most prices on anything are higher in the Hill Country. These small shops are trying to hang on. Many small business shops of all kinds have closed bc their rents have gone up so much due to the greed of the property owners.

Fredericksburg, Boerne, Comfort, etc use to be shopping meccas until investors decided they wanted a large piece of the pie from the shop owners.

I love love love the one in New Braunfels. I have to go whenever I visit my sis in San Marcos. I forget the name, but it is in a strip mall. The other is on the square, I believe. I didn't think the prices were any higher then at the shops in Vegas.

@Katia - does "The Quilt Haus" sound right? It's on Business I-35.
