Has anyone used texture magic? It looks really neat! Does anyone know where I could find a scarf pattern using texture magic? I have found a number of places to purchase the product.

Do you need a pattern? Measure the dimensions of what you want with at least 25% more to allow the shrinkage. Texture the piece and then trim it down.

Isn't it too stiff for a scarf? Just wondering. I use it a lot but never thought of using it on a scarf.

There is lots of info at superiorthreads.com about this product. I think it would be too stiff for a scarf. They have a chart telling you how much fabric you will need to get the size you want in the finished project. It is about 30% more.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I think I need to make something beside the scarf to see how stiff it will be. I don't think it will work because of your comments. Would love to know how to get fabric to wrinkle without being stiff!

Wrinkles- it never has a problem in my dryer. :)

I am also interested in Texture Magic- thanks for posting this.

I saw purses made with texture magic at a quilt show I went to. I want to try one of those. Another item on my long list of to dos.

Before there was Texture Magic there was The Incredible Shrinking Thread that you could sew on any fabric and make it textured. A few years ago a vendor at Paducah had a lot of this thread and no one was buying. He marked it down to $1 a spool so he wouldn't have to pack it up for the next show and I bought it all. I didn't really know what it was and he didn't know too much about it either. That stuff is expensive now! I got four colors, black, white, gray, and cream four spools of each color. I still haven't found a really good use for the Texture Magic look.

You can buy the thread here:

Texture Magic Is not stiff, it does add some body to your fabric. You can get it from your Local Quilt Shop or Superior Threads. There should be someone doing Demo's in your area. If you use a very light and stretchy fabric, it would change too much except it wont be as light. I took a old scarf and cut it up and put TM with it. Did some pretty stitching, and it shrunk but didnt look much different. I think it was too stretchy. I have put TM with Minkee and I love the look.

Yes and he just turned 1 yr. He loves to feel fabric and different texture.

Nice job with TM! I think I am going to use the shrinking tread for the scarf and have to do a tote bag in TM. Thanks for taking the time to post the pic!
