Thank you Quilters...
Just had to put a thank you out there for all the wonderful posts and information. I just finished typing a long post to get help making decisions on my next project and as I read through my questions I could just hear all the advice. Starting with, there are no quilt police, it's your quilt you should do just what you want. So know I don't need to ask - just wanted to say Thank You as I start my first whole cloth quilt which will be a Christmas tree skirt.
Yes the decisions included, should I use the white backing that comes with it (I am) or buy holiday fabric even though no one will see the back, do you think it would be okay to do it in red and green thread to accent the different components (I am) and should I splurge on wool batting because I love it or save some money with a cotton batt (wool won). |
Good for you!!!! Can't wait to see the final project!

that's what's so wonderful about being a member of this board!

Amen to that. I love the positive atmosphere on this board. There is always a thoughtful answer and a pat on the back. Thanks to all.

In response to your batting question... since its not a quilt for the bed I would not go with the higher priced wool.

Nothing like talking to ourselves to find our solutions! :)
Though sometimes talking it out with someone helps solidify what it is we really want. One good way that we learn is to take risks and step outside our comfort box of certainty. So .... Yea for you ... and your decisions! |
I think the red and green will be very pretty..IMHO
|
Please post a photo when you complete it...can't wait to see it! The red and green are great thread choices...very traditional. I, too, am so thankful for this forum. It never ceases to amaze me how caring and helpful the members are here.

I love wool also but I think for this project I would use poly. Congratulations on making your final choices.

You won't find any other board that is as helpful as this one!
