I always seem to have too much or too little thread to finish my projects. Does anyone know of a way to calculate how much thread to buy for quilting a project? I'm thinking there must be something out there, but I sure can't find it. Considering that the nearest place I can buy quilting thread is an hour and a half to get there, I like to plan trips well so help is appreciated.

If you are asking about quilting thread and not piecing thread, I found this estimate: http://www.superiorthreads.com/index...269&Itemid=100 They also have all kinds of other thread facts that are kind of neat: http://www.superiorthreads.com/index...=67&Itemid=100. I found nothing on piecing thread. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the links. That's exactly what I was looking for.
The right search terms just eluded me, so now it's bookmarked.

Thanks so much for the links nor'easter - the second one has a pdf with all the education topics, which I promptly saved! I tried a search too, but came up with nothing as well - so thank you!!

I do my thread like my fabric. I always buy extra and have a stash.
never too much fabric, never too much thread
