For those who print on fabric, desperately need model numbers please

I know from the comments most of you use HP's or Epson. I have been using a HP 6310 with great results. It died last week. I have purchased a HP 7500A on Sunday Feb. 26 and returned it Feb. 28 because it didn't leave at least a quater inch seam allowance all around the picture on the 8.5x11 sheet of fabric. The color from the new ink cartridges that were separate blue, yellow& magenta were not a vivid as the tricolor single cartridge. I then bought the Epson Artisan 730 and the HP 4500.

Last night the Epson uses 5 color cartridges and 1 black. It has the option of printing with borders or edge to edge. I selected with borders. To my surprise their border is 1/8". I cannot find a way to increase it.
The HP 4500 prints with a standard 1/8" border on all pictures.
I am trying to take a 4x6 picture, englared to poster size of 5 sheets wide by 5 sheets tall to be sewn together to make one big picture. The newer Hp printers have removed that ability from the printer advanced preferences according to HP. I spent 3 hours on the phone Mon. with HP. Apperently the poster setting was not a popular asset for customers and has been elimated.

I need to get the quilt done by March 13. Please help. Let me know the model number of the printer you use for printing on fabric and also if you've printed a picture in poster size to sew together. Desperately seeking a printer.

One option (painful!) might be to crop the image into 25 smaller images and then manually add in a white boarder to them.

I use Irfanview (a free photo editing software) and you can add a white boarder using image/increase canvas size.

I Have the HP L7780 All in One. I have a photo setting with borders and I also have a poster setting. It might be because I coupled it with PrintShop which also has the option to scale my documents to multiple pages. To be honest, I have never used either but it is nice to know I can should the need arise. As someone else said, you may need to use your photo editing program to get the borders you desire.

Have you tried looking for a software solution? I haven't tried this product but it looks like it should work - http://www.ronyasoft.com/products/proposter/

There are probably other similar products available, and the beauty is that they work with any printer, and they claim that you can set your margins. The price is reasonable too - around $20.

I am currently using an Epson Workforce 610 with durabrite ink, 3 separate blue, yellow, magenta, and then black. I can enlarge, or make smaller, make lighter or darker, intense, do border on or border off, there are high capacity cartridges available.
I also have an Epson Stylus CX7800, I used it for literaly 100's of photos on fabric. The Workforce is noisier than the Stylus, but is much more versital.

You could also try to get them printed at a place like Kinko's...I think you can pretty much order the dimensions you need with them. Good luck!
