I've been trying to think of something to put my thread in to keep it from rolling all over the place. I finally came up with a solution. I purchased a pencil box, at Walmart for less than 50 cents, punched holes in the lid and fed the thread through. Now I can just pull what I need and cut, no chasing after spools. YIPPEE!!! Who would have thought something so small could make me happy.

I use those to keep my marking pencils, quilting attatchments for each of my different machines, or other notions in. I picked up a bunch last year after back to school season and everything was on sale for like a quarter each. I also bought the zipper pouches for pencils that are see through and use them for my safety pins. They don't take up much room and can stand on end in a basket.
I will have to try the thread thing. What a great idea. |

Try Dollar General, too. I picked up a couple of things (not for sewing but for my office) for $50 and a dollar. Love that Dollar General!!

And the color means it's unlikely to get lost somewhere!

I recently bought some pencil boxes in the back-to-school section to store small notions. I wrote the contents on the ends of the boxes with a marker. They stack nicely on the shelf. No more scratching in the cabinet hunting for something and they're cheap.
