I had to refill the bobbin and before I refilled it everything was going along fine. Since I refilled it though my bottom thread is making big loops. I've decreased the tension, increased the tension, and it keeps doing it. I even cleaned out the bobbin area. Help!

Did some thread get caught in the bobbin area. I would pull it out and check and rethread.

Which thread is looping? You might have pulled a piece of lint into your bobbin case (it happens), or perhaps your top thread came out of the tension disks.

Set your tension to where it belongs. Rethread both the top and the bobbin and try again.

did you put the bobbin in the same way you took it out ???? some machines are very sensitive. also if you used the top thread to to rewind the bobbin double check that it is re threaded properly, sometimes if it isn't between the 2 little tension wheels it can play up. if that doesn't fix it rethread the whole machine again, normaly that will fix the problem. if that doesn;t help check that you don't have a lint build up in the bobbin area.

Put your tension back where it belongs...Make sure pressure foot is up and rethread top and bottom. Then make sure that you put down your pressure foot DOWN...should be OK.

If you make sure that the thread is IN the tension discs you shouldn't have a problem.

Are you sure the thread is coming off the bobbin in the correct direction? It's easy to get that reversed.

I had the same problem after mother used my machine and broke a needle (tried to do zig-zag without changing the foot). That threw the machine out of timing, and I had loops on the underneath. Had to take it to the hospital for repairs.

Did you remember to put your presser foot up when you threaded the machine? If you leave it down when threading it can cause loops on the back of the quilt.

If you are getting loops on the bottom, something is amiss with your top threading. Have you rethreaded the top and checked the tension? Is your machine a mechanical? Can you take it apart and be sure no thread is jammed up anywhere in the top?

And to be on the safe side, did you also check your bobbin tension?

Success I think!! I rethreaded both the top thread and the bobbin thread. Then I set the tension to where the machine indicates. This morning I sewed on it and it seemed fine.

I just don't understand why it was doing fine, and then just because I refilled the bobbin it started acting up.

So which is more tempermental, sewing machines or computers??
