I am making a wall hanging from a panel. It has bright colors like green orange yellow and browns. There is a tree with a sun in the sky and an owl on the tree limb. There are flowers at the bottom, butterflies on each side of the tree and little birds on the ground. It has brown on the sides of the panel and brown backing. It also had the oranges and greens etc stripes with the other colors in it too.

I want to stitch around the tree and owl and flowers and sun etc. But the backing is brown. I want to use whatever color thread the object I am stitching around is.But with a brown backing there would be so many different colors showing.Would this look dumb?

I real;ize I can change the color of the backing but wha=tever color it is there would still be differnt colors of thread.

Any ideas or would this look ok?
I have no way of posting photos sorry.

Couldn't you put brown in the bobbin ?

I would use brown in my bobbin and whatever color I wanted for the top.

Since it will be hanging on the wall I wouldn't think it would really matter. No one will see the back.

btw it sounds like a Frolic panel. I have a bunch of fq and some yardage of that line. I love it.

match the bobbin brown to the back or a multi earth tone thread in the bobbin

The colored areas on the back would be another design element, and one not really seen unless you are taking it down to show it off  :D:D:D

I agree, just put brown in the bobbin and the other colors won't show on the back

who is going to be looking at your backing fabric when it's a wall quilt? don't fret, use the colors you need to use.
