For some kids - like my somewhat autistic grand kid - you will have your best results with a hemmed piece of plain heavy fabric and just straps. Too much pattern would be quite a distraction. It can be upsetting to deal with quilted lines when they are trying to keep toys in standing position. I can see how a quilted pad would work for a changing pad or some toys that just needs to be gathered. I'm thinking a tummy time mat would be a lot of fun done up to tote, too.
