I was watching Nancy Zieman today on PBS and she showed how to baste the three layers of a quilt together using fusible web. She actually used fusible web on a roll and placed little bits about the same space apart as you would pin on the backing fabric and then on the batting. Peel off the paper and press all three layers together. worked perfectly and so much easier than pinning and/or spray basting.

I have a feeling that there may be a problem with quilting on the fusible.

I was wondering about that too. If it's wonder-under type it might be easier to sew through then something like steam a seam.

I did that with a tote bag-fused the batting and fabric together and it worked ok. But it was small project.

Did Nancy identify if it was machine quilted or hand quilted?

No, she did not. She only used very small pieces of tape, probably about 1/2 "

In my case, lining up the fusible tape on front/batting and batting back would be a major issue.

Sounds like it would work great. I will have to give it a try on a small project. Thank you for sharing.

Nancy did not line it up, she just placed small pieces randomly like you would place safety pins. Looked very easy to me
