Tip for Quarter Inch Seam Guide

Several years ago I bought a #57 patchwork foot for my vintage Bernina 830. I guess this foot was designed for a different machine, because the needle position I need to set my machine to make a perfect scant 1/4 inch seam is between two settings. I'm tired of battling with it. After reading this post: http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2012/...-mi-amore.html, I found the seam guide ruler at Hancocks.

Then after reading this tip from one of Bonnie Hunter's blog friends, http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2012/...sew-smart.html, I found some 3M Command strips at my hardware store which are similar. So simple, but it works well for me, because I like to have a raised guide to compensate for poor depth perception. I have to be able to remove any raised guides because I switch to other kinds of sewing which require a 5/8" seam. Having a pack of these on hand makes it easy to remove the tape without a residue to deal with.

I read that posting by Bonnie Hunter also and went right to ebay and bought the seam guide. Checked several of my machines with it and now I am all set for the "precise" 1/4". I did not see the mention of the 3M strips so thanks for posting that. Blue painters tape would probably work too but not as well without stacking several layers. Don't you just love Bonnie's blog? She lives just west of me.
