Tissue case with a button
 

Several weeks or maybe months ago a tut was posted with measurments for a tissue cover that was made from 5 pieces of fabric. One for the bottom, then the other 4 were folded in half vertically, then placed with the fold inward around the flat piece, then sew around the complete perimiter then turn and you had a tissue case that was lined. The one they showed on the picture had a big button and the case was made with a plaid and floral pattern I think. I need to find the tut again, can anyone help me.

Here's the one that I copied but I couldn't get the pictures to show up. I'll see if I can do an attachment. These are so easy, fold lay them out and stitch them down. I chain peiced a few. These do show the buttons on it.

. Start by cutting 5 pieces of fabric---3 pieces @ 4" x 5 3/4"----2 pieces @ 4" x 4"
4th Picture: Fold 4 pieces in half. These are the flaps on the front of the Kleenex holder.
Leave one large piece flat. This is the back of your tissue holder



Since you are working on the inside of the project and you want all your seams on the inside, you must lay the 4" x 5 3/4" face up (pretty side up) to start. Then layer the folded pieces of fabric on top of the flat piece. Layer the fabric like a folding the lid of a box. Be sure to place the folded edge of the fabric so that lays toward the middle and NOT on the seam edge. Pin all your edges in place.--Sew a seam all around the outer edge of the the pouch.

Turn your little creation inside out and viola! you have a Kleenex pouch. Stuff your Kleenex package in the pocket and embellish the outside any way you want. I used a bone folder to push out the corners from the inside.
Now that you've made a Kleenex pouch, try making a drink coaster the same way.----Cut 5 pieces of fabric @ 5" x 5" and complete it the same way that you made the pouch..
(As a footnote, this coaster was cut 4" x 4" which in hind site is too small. I'll definitely cut it the larger size next time because you lose about 3/4" when you sew the seams.)

I've made many tissue holders and in the end I really like when the 4 corners are "boxed" slightly.
Thanks to all who have given websites and tutorials. I love making and giving tissue holders. We need them now more than ever in this cold/flu season. (If y'all have made totebags, then you've boxed corners before.)

Not for this gal. I'm all about easy----------the super simple tissue cover is beautiful and needs only two pieces and goes together almost without any thought or planning------------and next to no measuring.

This one looks so easy....can't wait to try it!!!

I've done close to 300. Excellent way to use scraps and quick, too!

i skipped this the first time. the one with the button is so cute! i will have to make some of those in my "down-time". they look so easy to make! thank you for the link.

I can't find my good scissors and I'm out of rotary blades, so it took me 15 minutes to cut the 5 pieces for the button case (didn't do the buttton), press the 4 top pieces, sew them together and fold out right. (Plus some dog ear scratching!)-------------that's for my first one. Which I made to show neighbor the pattern. (up to 272 holders to date, keeping notes)

I've still got a few pieces of trouser legs from shopping bags, and I'm going to use some of that for the backs of the holders. I cut maybe 20 backs just a bit ago. So, now I'll be doing a few more.
