I have 12 blocks, will go 3 x 4. What's the best way to add a sash?
Thanks so much to all for your coaching!

I sew short pieces onto the sides of the blocks, as I sew them into long rows. Then cut long pieces to and sew them onto the tops/bottoms of each row.

That's what I thought, but it's good to get your opinion!

What amma said.

In order to keep the blocks in each row lined up, after you add the bottom sashing to a row, turn it over and using a ruler and pencil mark the seam lines onto the wrong side of the sashing. When you add the next row to this sashing strip, match the seams to the marked lines and pin. When you sew, ease so that those pinned seams match.

I like to cut the strips and use cornerstones. That way everything stays nice and square. It also helps to make sure your squares are uniform in size before you start the sashing.
like this..
