I love the twister blocks and the effect they create in a quilt top, but am I wrong when I say that there is quite a bit of waste when cutting the blocks, or am I doing something wrong? Just wondering. Thanks for any advice you could offer.

I thought there was a lot of waste also.

The small twister very little waste compared to the large twister. I also was able to make a binding strip with some of the waste.
|
i won't make one because of the waste. fabric is so expensive to waste that much

They do waste a lot. I think a lot of people use those middle squares to make the binding. I don't think it's a big deal if you don't make them all the time. I have the big twister and mainly bought it to use up my old prewashed fat quarters so I don't mind if it wastes some fabric.

I saved all my little squares....loL...I'm so cheap!

I just posted an idea: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-102809-1.htm#2616088
|
I have seen a lot of people use all the little squares in the border.
|
there is never any waste..it is fabric, use it for something else!

With the small twister, I had 2½" squares left over and made bowtie blocks out of them. There is always a way to cut and a method to get the most out of it. I love the twister, looks like I really worked hard when I didn't.
