Trade In Trade Up

Sew, who stands behind their sewing machine even after they make a newer better one? I need a new machine but the ones that interest me the most are out of my budget. I would love to hear from people who have traded up or tried to. Thanks for sharing.

I just traded my Viking Ruby in for a Viking Diamond Deluxe. I love both machines and got great prices on both. The Ruby was used for a whole 7 hrs and I knew the previous owner and I got a warranty. My Diamond is classified as slightly used. It was at the Viking convention to show case new projects, etc. It was set up to be used by dealers learning new things. When I checked the "hours used" on it, it was less than a minute. It was set up but not used but I got a great used price on it with all the warranties, the luggage to carry it with and all. If it hadn't been such a great deal and I got a great trade-in price for my Ruby I wouldn't have traded in my Ruby. They just came out with the Ruby deluxe so it's easy to get a good deal on your Ruby or Diamond right now. I love the extra features and the really large hoops. Trading up doesn't have to mean a new one. My LQS has great prices on gently used ones and give warranties too. It's the only place I'd buy my machines from. They also have all used ones serviced before they sell them.

The same machine was in my life for 40 years when I decided to get a new machine. Only because I wanted features which were not available on the old Kenmore. I chose a Viking and for the last 7 years have been in seventh heaven with it. I had to pay for it a little at a time. There are many machines that are not $3 to $4 Thousand dollars, which are very nice. Without knowing what features you want in a new machine, it is difficult to say which machine would meet your needs. Good Luck.

I'm longing for some Harp Space! Can you get that without spending a small fortune?
