:D Yes, I do use that method, however, I bought a tool made just for that. It is 12" long & 1/2" wide. The ends are pointed to fit into the corners of your square. It is slotted at intervals. You put one end in the corner of your square & a slot over the other corner diagonally. Then you mark along each side & in the middle. You cut on the middle line after sewing on the 2 outside lines. I'm not a great one for sewing straight lines, either but this makes them perfect every time! I can't remember the name of it & think I threw away the wrapper but think I got it thru Clotilde's catalogue? It was inexpensive & worth every penny! I am currently working on a quilt that it mostly 'stars' - 2 different sizes- & this is great! I only have partial use of my left hand so anything that makes things easier for me, I'll try it! :!:

Now that you mention it, I used to have one of those gadgets. I have probably lost more things that you can count on all your hands and toes :D

I know the feeling. I went "dumpster diving" today for my needle inserter. I can use needle nose pliers or a hemostat but this little 'do-dad' is soo handy, it was worth a trip thru the trash! Fortunately, it was picked up recently so there wasn't much in it! Have fun! :roll:
