My quilting friend and I are going to Portland for long weekend. Anyone have suggestions for quilt shops, etc. that we must go to?

I went to Portland last December for a short visit. Didn't get to go to any quilt shops since there was freezing rain and ice pellets (not the best weather for a Southern California girl) but the waterfront area has some lovely stores to browse around in. Wish I was going again in better weather. Enjoy.

I am not sure how far away it is but Keepsake Quilting is up that way. Google it, bet it would be worth the drive.

Worth the drive would be a trip to Lewiston to Marden's you can hit the turnpike and be there in 1/2 hour or so. They have lots of great quilt fabrics for $2.99/yd., last time I was there they had added a big batik section can't remember the price but they are much cheaper than most stores and they are brand name fabrics. Have fun and enjoy! Keepsake Quilting is a couple of hours from Portland.

Keepsake is in New Hampshire, not Maine. You will love Mardens...there is one in Portland; but not sure if they sell fabrics. Worth checking because brand names are only $2.99 or $3.99 a yard, with others going for less. They even have Waverly yardage really cheap.

No the Marden's in Portland doesn't sell fabric, sorry.
