I just got a PE 770 embroidery machine and am having trouble centering the design. I find the center of the fabric and mark it. Then I move the needle so it is over the mark. But when I start to sew the needle moves away from the center and begins to sew. What am I doing wrong? TIA

I don't know anything about your machine, but I have Vikings and they usually move from the center point to start the embroidery somewhere else in the design. The center point always is in the same place. On mine I can move my design about within the embroidery area. Read your manual. It will tell you all about this. I also have a PDF file I can download with further explanations of the machine's capabilities.

I also have Viking/husquvarna sewing machine that do embroidery and they also move from the center. The center mark centers the emb, bt dosent mean it will start sewing there. I agree with Grann of 6 youo need to read your manual.
Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I have read the manual many times and must be missing something. I am just going to swallow my pride and do the unthinkable--ask DH for help!!! :)

I have a Brother ULT2001 and once centered, the needle will move and start the design elsewhere....... try it on a scrap piece and I think you'll find it ends up being centered after all

To Connie F. I love the pumpkins in your picture. Do you have a pattern for them or do you know where I can get one?

i do not think you are doing anything wrong the machine does not start stitching in the middle it starts where the first color is on the design
