Someone posted that they were having trouble getting their flying geese to come out right. I can't find the original post but here is how I made my flying geese for a resent quilt. They turned out perfect. I'm not sure how to change the measurements if you want a different size. You don't have any wasted fabric either.

I replied to the poster ('thelondonzoo') in question with the same link. As I stated, everything needed is on that one page. To make different sizes, simply add 1 1/4" to the width, and 7/8" to the height of your final finished piece. That is included on that link page.

I agree, this is the easiest and most accurate method to use without much loss of fabric. I even went to far as to buy the Deb Tucker Wing Clipper and it works on the same premise as well as gives you the correct sizes to work with.
