I was looking for a tute that I saw the other day and I swear I bookmaked it (guess not) anyway, it was a tube quilt that when put together looked like black X''s throughout it. Went together lickity split ! I'm in need of a quick baby quilt and I liked the simple easy pattern. Thanks and Help

Does anyone know if there is a printable tute for this. I watched it with the CC but would like to have a hard copy.

Marysewfun 05-12-2011 08:40 AM

I love Missouri Star quilt tutorials - they are so well presented and thorough in direction, and in such a fun, energetic way, that you want to go try putting what you just saw together right now!

I would like one as well. I have emailed MSQC and suggested adding a link for a .pdf on youtube.com right below the video that is being played. Interesting to see if that ever comes about. :-)

Thanks everyone for your comments. You all make me feel so good!! Just got back from a funeral and must get back to work on this quilt. Last night I stayed up and blanket stitched the half dots, just looked like it needed it. I took a ott light to the deck outback in my pj's , it was so beautiful outside. Went to put it up and found I had missed one, so I decided to finish it, because I knew this was gonna be a long funeral. Must continue on.

hope this helps....

I'm in the middle of finishing a piano key border for my tube-X quilt. I'll try to post a picture when the top is done.

A couple of tips from my experience: you'll want to starch the tube before you cut the triangles and press really well or the bias edges will end up out of control! I used a simple homemade starch of 2 tsps of potato flour/starch to 250 ml of water.

This pattern is a great way to use jelly rolls - I used an Asian fabrics one, with Moda Snow as a background.

Have fun!

leiladylei54 05-22-2011 10:50 AM

TY for all the links to the youtube Missouri Quilt tube quilting sites. They are so fun to watch and very helpful. I started making my first tube quilting. Wish I had a jelly roll so I didn't have to spend hours cutting strips of fabrics to start the project. Live and learn!!!
