This morning I needed a large star for a couple of projects. For some reason I cannot draw or cut from folded paper a 5 point star. My experiment and success. Yea!! This may be silly, but it may save someone time and frustration.
I used a small stencel I have, although any premade/printed star should work. trace star on paper. If you want a really large one use newspaper. Using my quilt ruler (Is there any other kind??) I found 2 wings that shared a line, with ruler on one inch drew a line parallel to original tracing. I went around star drawing lines. Behold a larger in proportion a perfect star. |
Thank you for this great tip!! :D:D:D

Neat idea! It does work!

Works with an octagon too. You can keep on enlarging it till it reaches the desired size. I'm doing one for my round glass table and wanted one larger than the template I had.
I get plain white newspaper from the newspaper. They sell ends of unused paper each morning at the office. One I got should last me some years, it cost about 4 dollars or so and that was in 2008 when my daughters were visiting and we wanted something for little ones to draw on. |
What a great tip. Thanks for sharing.
