Has anyone ever used a bed sheet without batting? I folded the twin size sheet and placed my quilt top on it. If I sewed it that way, it would be just the right "feeling" of being light weight for my Uncle, just the way he likes it.

Thanks in advance for your input!!!

I would like to know too..Doing it that way does sound like it would be a lightweight quilt, which is something that my husband and I like as well..

Batting isn't necessary if you don't want to use it. Do it the way you want!

THANK YOU CANDACE!! lol My quilt dealer (the one who has me addicted) obviously has a life from time to time and didn't reply to my text...yet LOL

that would be considered a "summer" quilt and quite appropriate for someone who likes a very light quilt.

I've made all my kids "Summer Quilts" with no batting. A sheet for the backing works really well and if you pair it with the bottom fitted sheet and the matching pillowcase, you have the perfect summer bedding set. My kids all want flannel sheets in the colder months so their summer bedding sets have lasted for years as they only get used here for a couple of months.

Whatever works.

The only thing I would be concerned is for the middle layer to fold and be noticeable from the outside, but if that is not a problem and he likes it, why not!

I plan to bind it so I don't think it would be noticeable. I have to play with a bit before I actually sit down to do it.
