In my infinite wisdom I decided that 2:00 this afternoon would be a good time to start a table runner for tomorrow as a gift for my stepsister. Everything got cut out and pinned together fine.

So now I decide to FMQ the large poinsettias on the fabric with a nice gold thread to match the gold around the flowers. The back is red and I decided to stick with red. For some reason my FMQ is off tonight and I can't get the even flow that I want and the stitches are too small and they are slightly showing on the back.

It looks like crap. I Chucked it into the "maybe I'll finish it for myself" pile.

Off to CVS to get a gift card for a local restaurant instead.

Why did I think that this would be a good idea and waste good money on fabric at this point?

You had a wonderful, thoughtful idea, but at this time of the year we can't always get everything done. Don't beat yourself up about it, just acknowledge that you tried and move on. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

It's not a waste! It's just a project you haven't finished yet. Take a break and come back to it fresh when you have time. The stitches you don't like either won't look so bad, or you'll be able to take them out at your leisure and try again.

And then you'll be one gift down on next year!

I find when the stitches are only showing a little bit that they will almost always disappear into the quilt when I wash it and dry it. No one ever knows....

:)

I am sure she would love it and appreciate your effort anyway.

Just think, you have 12 months to get this made for her now...Dec is really 12 months away and NEXT Christmas is more than 365 days from now......so you have lots of time to get it done for her, for next year...yes?

Thanks everyone, I might try washing it first before ripping out stitches. Early start for next year.

Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year.
