Ugh! Ever have a brain fog day?

This morning (Saturday), I left my house at 7 a.m. for an event 92 miles away. Almost there and almost on time, I miss my exit and drive another 5 miles to correct my mistake. I finally get there and wonder, where is everybody? I pull out my papers and,........

IT'S NEXT WEEKEND!!!!!! ARGH!!!!

So, to salvage the day, I stopped at Hancock Fabrics and got a bunch of very pretty 1/2 price fabric. Yay! Maybe now I can almost look forward to doing it all again next Saturday!

Now that I'm home, I better stay away from cutting and stick to pressing, studying patterns, or best yet, playing with the new QB!

KarenR 11-05-2011 11:32 AM

Sounds like you needed to have two special weekends.

Montana Quilter 11-05-2011 11:32 AM

How is it we manage to screw up like that?? Hate to tell ya', but I had a pretty good laugh at your expense!

Lostn51 11-05-2011 11:35 AM

LOL I have done that before and it is funny now that I look back to the moment. I was going over the Ohio river from Cincy into KY and missed the exit to Louisville and before I knew it I was halfway to Lexington before I could turn around. So I drove to Lexington then to Nashville. Oh well it was a nice diversion.........

This new Board DOES take a lot of studying.

SharonTheriault 11-05-2011 11:59 AM

I have those fog days regularly & senior moments too. They can be sooooo irritating. I am having fun right now exploring the new Board. Trying out all the forums.

clsurz 11-05-2011 12:02 PM

Yes I have more often than I want to admit.

Must say though I would not mind having one like you just had.

cindi 11-05-2011 12:02 PM

I don't have brain fog today. The train here just doesn't want to stop at the Motivation Station....

Dolphyngyrl 11-05-2011 12:10 PM

Thats me after 230 everyday , my brain is just done with thinking after work

grammiepamie 11-05-2011 12:17 PM

I have been having alot of fog lately. I thought it was the weather, but no, I now think it is senior moments!!LOL

LyndaOH 11-05-2011 12:19 PM

Look at the upside - now you know the way! Glad you were able to visit Hancock Fabrics and add to your stash...

And I seem to have brain fog on a regular basis. A nap helps!

I think my brain moved to Tahiti and forgot to tell me where it went! Does NOT help at all when the resident teen cannot stop rolling his eyes. (QUICK! Find him a job while he still knows everything!)

sewmuchmore 11-05-2011 03:55 PM

Being there and done that or should I say, I still have senior moments!!! My doctor says it chemo brain, that my story and I sticking to it . LOL At lease you got some yummy fabric.

Drue 11-05-2011 04:00 PM

Our younger son used to say that I'd had a "brain fart"! LOL,LOL Hey you made something good out of a bad situation! This is good stuff!

showmehow 11-05-2011 04:09 PM

Oh yes, Once had tickets to the big rodeo in Houston. Looking forward to the show, my bf now hubby decided we had time to test his new mud tires and got us stuck in the creek bed. I was upset because it took forever to find a wrecker big enough to get us unstuck so we missed the whole rodeo. Then I looked at our tickets, oops they were for the day before.

dixiebelle162002 11-05-2011 04:24 PM

cr12cats 11-05-2011 04:27 PM

i can claim senior moments. at least you were early and can still go next weekend. i once was going for a test
and got ready and in the car and looked at the address again and realized it was the day before, so that was that.lol

BETTY62 11-05-2011 06:53 PM

What a great way to correct a mistake. Way to go girl!

par4theday 11-05-2011 06:58 PM

It sounds like you made an otherwise bad day good, going shopping for half price fabric. Did the savings adjust the cost of your gas? I hope so, but I hope you enjoyed your shopping anyway. We all do things like that, and me more times than I want to admit.

Moonglow 11-05-2011 06:59 PM

I think we all have 'brain fog' days now and again. At least you turned a negative into a positive by doing some retail therapy. LOL

RDM 11-05-2011 07:10 PM

Sounds like you made a wrong trip that turned out well-more fabrics. Love how you made the most of it as only quilters can do.

Margie 11-05-2011 07:18 PM

More often than not lol

Christine27 11-06-2011 06:47 AM

Yep, made the best of it. I'm 39, so although my mother has been calling me middle-aged for at least 4 years, I still deny that it was a senior moment. Instead I'm going to blame either my blonde hair or typical hormones! It was a work-related event, so I scoured my emails, looking for any reason other than last year's was this same weekend, but no luck. The mistake was purely my fault.

But the fabric? All good! I had a hard time choosing, so I bought a little of a lot of different fabrics. My savings did more than make up for the gas expense. I didn't take time to look up the smaller independent quilt stores, so maybe I'll do that next weekend when I have to go back! ;)

By the way, several co-workers knew I was going to this event this weekend, so other than my chosen few who know the truth ;), my official story on Monday will be that I took another look at the information and realized it's not until next weekend. WHEN I looked at those papers will be our secret!

LindaM49 11-06-2011 07:01 AM

I've been there and done that too. I've showed up in my doctor's office a week early (twice) and have gone to my dentist's office the wrong day or time. One time the dentist's office was able to work me in. Another time I had to come home and go back in the afternoon...time appointment was for. One time my doctor's office called to change my appointment from a certain day to another...only thing was my card showed an entirely different day and time. So that time...THEY were wrong.

JudieRQuilting 11-06-2011 07:24 AM

Yeah, I have brain fog quite frequently....like now. Hello? Is anyone at home up there??? lol

ywoodruff5 11-06-2011 08:52 AM

I am soooooo LMHO.....we must be under the same "full" moon. Yesterday I, too, took off early for a class that was 45 minutes away.....ummmmmm wrong date. No problem - I went another 30 minutes to Mill Ends and got some wonderful batiks and marbles at a great price so the trip was not wasted.
