Okay,
I am trying to get the hang of this site. I have a question. I made this quilt some 20 years ago for my daughter. I was just learning and knotted my thread and couldn't pull it through because it was embroidery thread. I want to spruce up the back but I am at a loss as to how to make it look better. Can anyone help??

PJ,

Was the quilt tied or did you quilt it with embroidery threat? I suspect the latter. If so, one solution would be to requilt it with quilting thread, pulling out stitches from one block at a time, then moving to the next block to requilt.

My question is, if the quilt is 20 years old and you are no longer a newbie, why not surprise your daughter with a new quilt using all of the new techniques, designs and tools.

Well, I thought I would eventually get to make her a quilt, but she wants this one. I actually have only made one block in my entire life time. The quilt I am talking about was printed onto fabric. I was just learning then. Now I am trying to make a BOM and learning how to piece all over again. I have 25 antique blocks that my grandma did that my mother had in her closet. So I am trying to perfect my skills a little before I actually put them all together in one quilt. Should be interresting. I wanted to get this done before I started on it (antique blocks). I have lots to do.(sigh)
