In organizing my sewing room, I decided that I should find someplace to buy canvas storage containers for my wallhangings, small quilts, etc. to put under the bed. Most of my smaller quilts are rolled right now. If I need to fold, should I leave the right side up?
These storage items cannot be more than 6 1/2" deep. |
I would suggest folding wrong side out, and if you leave them stored for any length of time, take them out once in a while and re-fold, always with wrong side out.

Do not fold them. Roll them up instead. You'll avoid creases that way.

fold on bias according to Quilter's Newsletter

If you fold, it's a good idea to fold on the diagonal. There was an article about this in a magazine some time ago. Basically you start with a diagonal fold and go from there. It is easier on the threads in the quilt.
