My mom made an entire quilt out of double knit blocks for my son, he literally loved it to a worn out falling apart eventual demise, so yes, go for it!!

All my husbands family made was double knit...and they were tied!

I have several DK quilts and some more tops to tie yet....all yard sale finds..

HOWEVER, do not mix the DK with cotton...even if you prewash the cotton and shrink all you can, it just does not LAy right with the DK..I do have a really nice that has a poly-cotton backing and that is great...

another thing..quilts made with DK are HEAVY...super heavy....they are the best for picnic quilts, throw in the car emergency blankets, etc...and for SR center lap quilts...the reason is they can be washed over and over and over!

use a good poly thread thread, not a cotton, as the weight will break down a cotton seam!

Some interesting info here. Thanks all for your input. Had never thought of making a DK quilt, but I think I will adjust my thinking.
