I have a question. I have my valentine cards from when I was in grammer school in the mid 1940's. I would like to make a wall hanging. Can anyone tell me how to do this and ideas for doing it,size of wall hanging ect.

I don't know how to do this unless you were to place small vinyl pockets on the fabric and stitch them down with a decorative stitch on three sides. Then slip the Valentine cards in the little pockets. The size of the hanging would depend on the number of cards and the size of them. Good Luck

My DH suggested having the cards laminated and leaving an extra edge (1/4 to 1/2") and sewing them on the material. Just thought I would pass it on.

You can also put them on a mat & frame them like a picture.I've done this with doilies,small pics etc....something like a collage & framed.

I too would .do the fabric with vinyl pockets for display. I did that with old family photo's

If you google "Jean Boyd" quilt patterns, she has several different types of patterns. She has one called Pop-out (I think)where your card can actually be popped into the quilted picture frame, and comes out again if you want to change the pictures/cards. She has several different ideas for cards/pictures to be showcased in wallhangings and/or quilts.

You could scan them into the computer and print them on specialty fabric. I just bought the fabric (paper) that goes in my inkjet and then needs to be heat set. Came out great for my label and the fabric looks like muslin.

Not sure if you can wash something made with fabric sheets. Mfg tells you to dry clean only after using them or they will fade. I print directly on regular fabric that I have backed w/freezer paper. I washed the samples I made before I used any of them. The ones printed with black held their color even when I used bleach, but the ones printed with color faded out a lot with just getting wet.

I think I would photo copy them,and keep the origionals somewhere safe and out of the sunlight. Use the nice copies foryour quilt!
