Viking Husqvana 500 sewing machine
 

Does anyone have this machine? If so, how do you like it. I have seen an classified ad for one for $375. I have google this, but not much info.

I have 6 Huskvarna machines I really love them all. I do not have this one so not sure how it would preform.

I have the viking 500 and it does just fine. got it from an elderly lady that had to go into nursing home. It was well taken care of and I assured her I would use it and not abuse it. Have had it about 2 years now and use it alot. Do lots of piecing on it. Works great for piecing and quilting if you so choose. Has many of the qualities you would want in a machine. I got this machine and a new Pfaff serger in cabinets for under $400.00. Came with so many extras. the son said have to take it all. so I did. New ott lamp too many things to list. Took the machines out of the cabinets and sold them at rummage sale for more than $200.00 dollars. I would recommend the Viking.

Adding more, make sure you get to stitch on it. I got to use both machines before I purchased them

I have this machine. I have 3 Vikings so yes I love them. This is a great machine, has enough features to make just about anything possible. You can play with needle position to get a perfect scant 1/4 inch sean. I dropped this machine off a sewing table at a class, yes it stopped working, the case was even dented, but took it to my dealer and $50 bucks later it is perfect again (looks strange with a dented case) Light enough to take to classes. Just make sure it has been "loved" as I"m sure if it was not taken care of it might not be good. Mine has had tons and tone of hours on it but always loved. I recently thought of replacing it and Viking has a reasonable price machine that would be great and does have some better features but I think it was $900-$1200. Just couldn't justify that as my home machine is a Viking Designer 1. You may have found a great reasonable priced machine. Important is to see how many feet it has that you think you will use as Viking feet are really expensive. Let us know what you do

I have a Viking Sapphire and I use and LOVE it..don't have a 500 so I don't know about that.

I also have a Viking 500....have had it for more than 15 years. It has been very reliable, never has been serviced, and has a lot of stitches for a machine from that period of time. I've looked at the newer Sapphires with the larger throat, but just can't spend the money right now. The 500 is a little heavy to carry around, but I think that's because of what it's made of....not a lot of plastic parts. Bottom line? I think that they simply don't make them like they used to.

If you can test out the 500 before you buy it, great. If it's in good working condition, I don't think you'll regret your purchase.

I do not have that model but love Husqvarna's-have 2 now.They are my main machines and have had that name for 30 yrs.Never had a problem with any-that was not my fault
