and frame. I found this setup on craigslist for 2500 dollars. It has the panto board and speed control and everything that came with a new set up. They said it was used on 1 quilt and in like new condition. I know some of you have this set up what do you think of it?

my question would be 'why are they selling it after only one quilt'. is there something wrong with it? is it difficult to set up or use?

I asked that question. She said she had a friend with a long arm that did her quilting and she just did not use it .

Is there any way you can test-drive it?

I have the mega quilter with inspria frame. I found that I wanted more room for quilting on frame so I purchased the 18x8 to use on frame and kept the mega quilter for quilting. It is a really nice machine but make sure you consider what you will want to use it for before making the purchase.

I think you can do better on price, unless it's a Megaquilter 18 x 8. We bought the 9 inch Megaquilter on sale for about 1000 dollars and bought a nice 10 ft Grace frame, which is what most of them come with, for 600 dollars on sale. The speed control and lazer pointer were included with the frame. Don't know how much the panto boards cost but I doubt that would make up the difference.

I have the mega quilter and it works really great, I wish I had more throat space, but that's another story. I bought mine and Joanne's 2 yrs ago for $1875, it was on sale, but I think you can find a better deal on the setup. Also mine came with the speed control and panto.

I also have the Viking megaquilter and next generation frame although havent been able to use it yet cause I was missing some stuff....BUT in my research on them I think you can do way better on that price AND something to think about is because you are buying from an individual you wont get a warranty.

Our LQS has that set-up and we use it to do our Community Quilts. It works well but doesn't have a lot of space before you have to roll again. By the time you get to the bottom, you only have about 4 inches as the rest is taken up by the rolled quilt. The machine does have a slightly different way of threading and the bobbin doesn't hold as much thread as I'd like. It takes us about 6 bobbins to finish a full/queen quilt with an all over meander pattern. We'd like more space but the set up does work if you can put up with the limitations.

I just recently purchased a Viking mega quilter,Inspira frame with cruise contol, and laser for $1200. I love it. The person I got it from only used it twice and had only set the frame up as crib size all the other parts for the king size was still shrink wrap along with the foot to the machine and most of its parts. She said she was in a car accident and could not uses it. She need the space in she one room for a home business and needed to get rid of it ASAP. THink I got a great deal. I am still practicing. Have not got brave enough to quilt areal quilt yet but will
