Vintage machines.
 

Has anyone had any experience with a turquoise national sewing machine. Found one for 45 dollars and wondered if it was a good deal. Thank you. Debquilts

I myself can't help since I never tried one. But you should ask/post this on the Vintage sewing machine on here. I'm sure there maybe some that have this machine in their collection and can tell you. A super group!

Why do you want the machine? To sew with? To display? As an investment? If you want to sew on it, then the answer to "is it a good deal" depends very much on the condition of the machine. If you want to display it, then the answer depends on whether it's worth it to you. Vintage machines aren't usually good investments because so many of them are available. The prices are very regional. I've acquired vintage machines for as little as "free" and as much as $50 (but that included a nice cabinet and bench). Around here, craigslist is a good place to find them.

If it's in very good running condition and you love it, then it's worth it. From what I have learned from the people on the Vintage Machine thread, a lot of the vintage machines made in Japan are very good machines and sew really well. I personally would love to have a turquoise machine. But maybe the place where it is will come down in price for you. Most vintage machines are not worth much, depending on the brand and condition. Again, like Caroloto said, visit the Vintage part of the board, and they will give you a more education opinion.
