I finally did it! Sorry I can't post a pic but I've been looking for a good used machine for my daughter who has recently moved into her first house. I got an Elna Supermatic with all attachments (including original screwdriver!) that just SCREAMS the '50's for $25! Brought it home and mechanically inclined DH spent 2 hrs cleaning and oiling and running up and downstairs to consult manual online. At the end of the reconditioning session, there were Q-tips, toothpicks, wire brush, white grease, kerosene, paper towels, something called "goof off" sewing machine oil, a flashlight and a beautifully purring machine that sews like a dream. I've looked for well over a year knowing that good machines are out there so to all of you who may still be on the hunt, anything is possible!

So true they are out there... they are hiding in barns or attics, or basements. They are too heavy to toss in garbage.. they are there you just have to get lucky..
