I've been on vacation for the last two weeks out in Anaheim, CA visiting family and I told my DD that I wanted to go to M & L Fabrics because I'd heard what great prices they had on fabric. She also needed fabric for dining room chair seats so we found it and I must say they have a VERY impressive amount of fabric...of all kinds! She found fabric for her chairs at $2.98/yd. She got a heavy outdoor type fabric that would hold up to 3 adult males and 7 cats!!! I found tons of Robert Kaufman fabric for $3.98 and $5.98/yd. I bought some batiks for a bargello quilt for $5.98/yd. There's a lot to look at so if you're in the area, stop in and check it out. When they measure your fabric it's very generous. They give you more than what you ask for. They're also not very careful how they cut it...they just run the scissors all the way up but it seems to make a good cut. The only negative thing was when we were checking out, I asked the girl if she knew where a quilt store was because I was looking for patterns. She had no idea what I was talking about!! She barely spoke English :( and didn't know what a quilt pattern was.

Heaven forbid anyone with an accent deal with the public.

I live in Anaheim and if I'd known you were here I could have come take you to lots of local quilt shops. Yes, M & L is a great place to shop and find good deals. Glad you were able to at least find a lot of fabric you liked.

I used to live in Cerritos...very close to M & L. I live in Grants Pass, OR now and really miss that store!!! Glad you got the chance to visit it!

She was much better then the employee I had the pleasure of dealing with at a Hancock's Thursday! The woman did not know what applique was, said she never heard of it and it must not be very popular or the store would have a lot of it. LLLLLLOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL

Since we are all experiencing coming across people from other countries working and living in our country, it doesn't hurt to be a little patient as they adjust to life here. Confusing language, confusing writing, culture shock....all these things contribute to misunderstandings and sometimes frustrating interactions. Things here in general are VERY different than in most other countries.

Not defending or condemning anyone here...just be aware that people need to work to support their familes, and I am much happier seeing them work than standing in the welfare lines. My tax dollars aren't going to support the ones working...

I have been in there several times!! There is lots and lots of fabrics to see.

I stop by now and then when I'm driving down to visit my parents.

This sarcastic comment was uncalled for. I meant no disrespect for anyone. I've lived in So. CA and So. TX for many years and worked with many people "with an accent". I'm not prejudiced against any race. All I was saying was she did not know what a quilt pattern was and she said so herself.
