I bought a new sewing machine. Also bought a walking foot for it.
It said in one of the tutorials to make the strip quilt to use a Walking Foot, as it made it easier to feed the material thru as it is the cuddle fabric (minkee) and it stretches easily.
Well, I cannot use it with the walking foot, as it stopped my machine and had to remove bobbin etc. to get it going again.
I do not know why it will not work on my machine. My book that shows the pressure foots SHOWS the exact same foot that I bought. I purchased a Kenmore sewing machine and purchased the walking foot through Sears parts for it. So I have the correct one.

Are you sure that the foot is installed properly? I guess a better question is, can you sew regular fabric, not fleece or minkee, OK? If the foot is not on correctly, the fabric will not feed.

I had problems with mine when I first got it also as the directions it came with weren't the clearest. When I first put it on, it was stopping everything too. Don't know just what your set up is, but on mine the little lever thingy (on the walking foot) on the right side (as you're looking at it on the machine) has to be above the screw that holds the needle in so that it goes up and down with the needle.

Hopefully that's clearer than mud!

It is a very common thing to have the foot on incorrectly. The above post says it very clear. Even we experienced quilters occagionaly have this problem. So try again.

I would also test it on regular fabric before going any more troubleshooting. The problem could very well be the minkee fabric. Sometimes when I do bags that are backed with the fusible fleece, I have a problem with the fabric feeding right with the walking foot because its grabbing the fleece. Minkee is kinda like fleece so thats why I suggest to at least try the walking foot with regular fabric on top and bottom. Just my opinion tho.

Yes, that was the problem. So I tried putting in on correctly with the bar with plastic cover, over the screw that holds the needle tight and it corrected the problem. You are right, the directions were not very clear.

Live and learn, I should of taken more time and re-read the directions. Putting that lever above the screw head that holds needle in, is very important. Directions should show it better.

Thanks for your support.
