Want to find letters for children's blocks for a quilt
 

Does anyone have a source for letters for quilts? I would like to put three children's type blocks on my GGD's quilt with her initials A L H (Adaline Loree). Thank you again for your help. Yolanda Wood River

I usually print the letters in my computer making them as big as I need them. There are different styles that you can choose from. I have also used coloring children's books that have the alphabet.
One time I didn't have ink in my printer and pulled on the web the letters and trace it on paper directly from the monitor.

The book Word Play Quilts ​has very cute piecing instructions for letters.

I got mine at Walmart, in the craft dept, and where the numbers and letters are for mail boxes. They have all sizes. You just have to remember to trace them from the back side. I ironed fusible to the back of my fabric first, then placed the letter face down, traced around it, cut it out, peeled the paper off, then fused to fabric.

The easiest way to add letters or numbers to fabric is the method in Fat Quarter Fonts book. It's so easy my DGD and friends were making pillows sewing in words and shapes when they were 11-12 years old. No fusing or hand sewing, you sew on the line.

I pick up things everywhere to use for quilting or applique patterns. Below are just a few that were quick to hand. I love the kids craft aisle, gift bags (the $1.00 ones), stick on numbers and letters. They are usually very inexpensive. I have used some of the animals on the bag for a baby quilt, the red hearts came in 3 sizes - used as patterns, the wooden cutouts I have used for both quilting and applique patterns, and the stick on letters have been used several times. I just trace around them. I also have a pkg of stick on numbers. They really come in handy.
