Wanting to learn
I'm interested in learning to repair sewing machines. I live in the Seattle area and wondered if anyone knows where I can start looking for someone that will teach me.

Maybe talk to some of the sewing machine shops in the area and see if they offer training? If not, they should be able to tell you where you can go to be trained.

Ray White offers classes all over the country - http://www.whitesewingcenter.com/repairclass.php
He will be in Dundee, OR in August/September, other locations. There are other resources listed on the sew-classic blog - http://blog.sew-classic.com/2008/11/...intenance.aspx Be sure to join the vintagesingers yahoo group; it is a source of all kinds of information. Check out the files in the archives before asking questions. If you need some machines to practice on, send me a pm. I need to reduce my "inventory" - actually I need to clean out the garage. |
