You'd probably be shocked at the number of parents who refuse to vaccinate their children. They're living off the benefits of other children being vaccinated, and risking horrific illnesses for their own children under the mistaken belief that there are worse effects from the vaccinations than getting the illness. They weren't alive when polio was prevalent...it's a really skewed sense of security and one that gets my feathers ruffled. Their kids are likely not to get the illness because of all the other kids whose parents are being responsible. Grrr...talk about a maddening topic for me!! |
I am just so suspicious of the "ecologically sound" claim....and using that as an excuse to charge more. If something is recycled or uses stuff that we have an abundance of, why should it be more expensive? Makes no sense to me!!! I use good old fashioned cotton batting...Warm & Natural. Plus, it helps out our US farmers using the cotton they grow.

esqmommy and ladygen - because of families declining to vaccinate their children, polio and measles are quickly on the rise. last year over 150 children died of illness that could have been avoided with vaccination, and no one keeps count of how many get sick but recover. also to be considered: we as a country take in people from all over the world. are they illness-free when the get here? they do get vaccinated before they get in, but was it in time? again, nobody knows and those kids are in school with kids who are not vaccinated. non-vaccinated kids spread it to children too young to be vaccinated, and therefore most vulnerable. they could be, and are, passing preventable illnesses on their younger siblings.
i definitely agree that with measles and polio on the rise after being controlled for so many years, it seems clear to me, at least, that vaccinations are the best way to keep your children safe. |
