wash away stablizer ?

Do you take off the excess and finish the quilt with binding or do you rinse before the batting and backing?
Thanks Gale

I only used wash away stabilizer when sewing garments. If I were you I would wash it after it is finished but again I never used it for quilts.

Haven't used it, but I would not wash the top until it was quilted and bound.

I tear away the excess and wash after quilting and binding. I have actually drew my quilting design on the wash away stablizer.

I'm doing a blog that some are using it. In her directions she is washing each block. If I were using it I would wait and wash the whole top I think. I'm chain piecing without stabilizer so don't have personal experience.

Me too... I tear away most of the stabilier before washing. Don't spray with water hoping it will dissolve--that will only make it soak into the fabric and make it stiff and yucky....

I agree with CoyoteQuilts -- I tear away as much as I can then put the quilt together and wash when it is finished. In fact, I usually wash it twice since I have a front loader. I too have found that spraying it with water makes a mess.

For a quilt; I'd only remove the extra and then wait until after the quilt is done to wash it. Or if you are dealing with blocks then you could soak them after each one before the backing and batting. Either way would work. Just take off the extra.
