cowgirlquilter 03-24-2011 10:26 AM

Yeeeeeeehaaaaw!!!

wanderingcreek 03-24-2011 10:29 AM

Wow! That is a lot of quilters spending a lot of money. I know that I spend my share but mostly here on the board.

sewobsessed1 03-24-2011 10:33 AM

I believe it!
And these truck drivers know exactly how to spend their wait time...I wonder how much stash you can stash in a semi?

Foxflower 03-24-2011 10:37 AM

If I got the right number of zeros, I think that's just over $171 per quilter per year. Somebody check my math! I've spent that already this year I think, or come close.

newquilter10 03-24-2011 10:39 AM

As Dot said we are doing our part to support the economy. I do shop for a bargain though!!

darlin121 03-24-2011 10:42 AM

Soooooo do we, maybe, get a special discount for that? lol

newquilter10 03-24-2011 10:45 AM

Dream on!!!

reeskylr 03-24-2011 10:48 AM

That is a great article. Trucking for Quilters! lol

CarrieAnne 03-24-2011 11:02 AM

wow!

dirty1mom 03-24-2011 12:50 PM

Could someone please forward that article to Walmart so corporate people know how much money they are missing out on? Thank you.

reeskylr 03-24-2011 12:58 PM

lol seriously. I work at a super Walmart, well when they schedule me to work, that is. Some of their stuff is ok, but as for the fat quarters they carry, they belong on an ugly fab list. hehe

QuiltnNan 03-24-2011 01:12 PM

Someone's spending more money than I am :)

It's me. I swore I would not stash build, and what am I doing, stash building. When I found I could buy a whole bolt for $2.38 a yard I kind of went nuts. Also when people on this Board have blenders for $4.25 a yard, what can you do?

You are correct. I want to know who isn't pulling their weight because I sure spend more than that a year. lol

lyndad 03-24-2011 01:39 PM

I sure spend more than my share per year, some just on quilt kits and then there the gadgets, then fabric sales, oh the list goes on and on. lol

davidwent 03-24-2011 01:41 PM

I'd say that makes us a pretty influential group! Hear that Walmart?
David

dotcomdtcm 03-24-2011 02:11 PM

Footnote (remember those?)
I think that figure might include gallery quilt purchases. The whole story is in the newspaper.

Foxflower 03-24-2011 03:29 PM

Thanks for checking my math. Here I thought I was being pretty budget conscious. Who is the fairly large group, then that isn't spending that much? Many are spending significantly more.

That doesn't make sense. Wouldn't that be $171 per year? per person? Can't be right.

Lori S 03-24-2011 03:34 PM

If I could keep my spending under $200 Per Year that would be news worthy!
I am holding up my end plus a few others!

IrishNY 03-24-2011 03:41 PM

If you looked at my stash, it's easy to believe the $3.6B number.

beckyw 03-24-2011 03:47 PM

I spend my share. I'm only buying to finish a project.

BellaBoo 03-24-2011 03:54 PM

My math says $171.42 per person. 3600000000 divided by 21000000. That's the average per person so there are many million who spend above that and many million who spend below that. Hard to imagine spending below $200 a year! I spent that last week. :D

DesiG 03-24-2011 03:56 PM

I spent more than that on my supplies to practice fmq and first quilt since 1990.(It will be the surf song in the twist and turn bargello book) And that's not counting the money that I spent on the singer 301, nor the bernina that is patiently waiting for me to finish the lay-a-way payments! I think that we should get a tax credit for our patriotic efforts to stimulate the economy!

KwiltyKahy 03-24-2011 04:18 PM

I'll bet that doesn't even include what we spend with each other. And what about the hotel rooms and restaraunt meals, and gas for retreats and quilt shows. And rental for the places to have quilt shows and guild meetings And postage sending stuff back and forth. Makes me wonder why the economy is in troule. LOL.

Marye 03-24-2011 04:40 PM

Gee I have spent my share and for five others just this week. I do have some scraps left over.

Mariposa 03-24-2011 04:48 PM

Now if I could win the lottery....hmmmmmmmmmmmm :)

dotcomdtcm 03-24-2011 04:49 PM

AND the p.o.!!

HummerGardenCrafts 03-24-2011 04:53 PM

I'm guilty! I buy a lot quilting supplies and fabrics!

BluegrassGurl 03-24-2011 04:57 PM

mmmmmmmmm...... that is an impressive number. Wonder if that is 21m world wide.... or only US?

If the stat is only US......per the 2010 census, the US population is 308.4 m..... that makes us 6.8% strong.

I know I spend more than my share. ;-)

susanwilley 03-24-2011 05:20 PM
