I am on cloud nine at the moment.

My son has just come home on leave for a few days and proposed to his girlfriend. lol :-D They haven't set a date, but the two love birds... and we (his Dad and I) have all had such a lovely day... Their Engagement announcement, a snowball fight and then Sunday dinner... it's been a wonderful day.

Now, although we don't know the Wedding day yet... their Wedding Quilt is going to have to be added to my list of 'to do' for starting this year asap.

I know the Double Wedding Ring is Traditional, but is it as difficult as it looks? Or, and believe me I don't want to scrimp or cheat, but is there another wedding quilt that is just as lovely, but not as daunting?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I am making a wedding quilt for my little sister. She is only 20 and doesn't like the typical traditional or girly looks. She is going to have bright green and zebra print in her wedding. So I decided to make pinwheels out of bright green and black and then I am going to add a zebra print border on it. It's definitely not a traditional wedding quilt but I know that she will like this one.

Although I have never done the Double Wedding Ring, it is my humble opinion that any quilt pattern is appropriate. I am sure that they will love whatever you do for them.

well there is a quicker way to do the wedding ring quilt...look at quilt smart products (still a bit tedious to cut out all the squares) but it is foolproof to get them to line up right.

I am also working on a wedding star quilt...which is also tedious but it is just HST so not to horrible.

The double wedding ring quilt is, imho, the classic wedding quilt.

Now, I must admit I have never done one and the curves intimidate the heck out of me. However, there are several templates available to make it easier.

You could do a regular nice quilt for the wedding then take some of the best pictures at the wedding and make a picture quilt for the 1st anniversary. :thumbup:

I seen one time that egg money quilts had it an it really didn't look that hard the way she dose it.

There is an English Wedding Ring Pattern. It is interlocking "circles" that are pieced. I would do that one.
